The trial of former President Hosni Mubarak will be conducted in daily consecutive daily sessions, said Ahmed Refaat, the head of the Cairo Criminal Court, on Sunday.
The former president, his sons Alaa and Gamal, and former Minister of Interior Habib al-Adly, along with six of his aides, will stand trial on various charges on Wednesday, 3 August, at the Police Academy in Cairo.
At a press conference, Refaat said the trial will be held in consecutive sessions until a final verdict is issued.
The trial will be broadcast on state television, which will be given the exclusive right to cover the trial on air, reassuring Egyptians about the transparency of the proceedings.
Refaat said the plaintiffs and their representatives, the suspects’ defense team, first and second degree relatives of the defendants, Egyptian media professionals, and foreign media outlets that obtain permission from the State Information Service will be able to attend the sessions.
The court room can accommodate 600 attendees, he added.
