Mubarak still in hospital in Sharm el-Sheikh

Toppled president Hosni Mubarak is still hospitalized at the Sharm el-Sheikh International Hospital, the state-owned Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Sunday.

The report contradicts earlier claims that Mubarak had been transferred on Saturday to the military-run International Medical Center in Cairo. The expected transfer to a military hospital was in line with an order issued on Friday by Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud that Mubarak should be moved from his location in Sharm el-Sheikh.

MENA also said that medical teams and hospital workers have been prevented from entering the former president's suite at the hospital. Only the medical team accompanying Mubarak is being allowed to follow up on his health condition.

The attorney general ordered the appointment of security guards to protect Mubarak and the adoption of all necessary legal procedures to move ahead with the ex-president's prosecution.

The attorney general also said he should be kept informed of the health condition of Mubarak, so that he can make decisions on where and when to send him to prison.

Mubarak was hospitalized last week over investigations into financial corruption and the murder of protesters during the 25 January revolution.
