Mubarak’s detention extended for 15 days

Former President Hosni Mubarak has been ordered detained an additional 15 days pending further investigation into graft charges, according to a ruling by the Illicit Gains Authority.

The authority’s judicial committee held the session inside Tora prison, where Mubarak is already detained.

The Cairo Criminal Court had earlier decided to accept the Public Prosecution’s appeal against the Nasr City Misdemeanor Court of Appeal’s decision to release the former president, ordering Mubarak to stay in detention.

The Public Prosecution has also said that Mubarak is being detained pending charges of illegally restoring presidential palaces and receiving illegal gifts from national press institutions, but a court has not yet decided to detain him on the other two charges.
