The North Cairo Criminal Court will resume the retrial of former President Hosni Mubarak and his sons Alaa and Gamal on Saturday at the Police Academy in New Cairo.
The court will also try former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six of his top aides, as well as fugitive business tycoon Hussein Salem who had fled to Spain. They are all accused of killing demonstrators during the 25 January revolution and of financial corruption.
The case is known as the ‘Trial of the Century’.
The Court of Cassation had nullified the life imprisonment verdicts that were issued against Mubarak and Adly, and acquitted all the other defendants of the verdicts issued against them last June.
Sources said Mubarak is arriving to the academy in a helicopter. They added that the committees, formed by the court to investigate the charges relating to gas exports, financial corruption and the armament of the Interior Ministry, would be sworn in on the same day to submit their final report within 30 days.
