President Hosni Mubarak has nominated a new president for the State Council, according to a council statement issued yesterday. Mohamed Abdel Ghany, the council’s current vice president, has been chosen to replace the current president Mohamed el-Huseini, who has reached retirement age.
An urgent meeting of the council’s general assembly will be held on Wednesday to discuss the nomination. If approved, Abdel Ghany will head the Supreme Administrative Court, the Special Council for Administrative Affairs, as well as other council departments.
