President Hosni Mubarak will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the resort city of Sharm al-Sheikh on Thursday.
Informed sources said they will discuss obstacles facing the peace process in the Middle East, most important of which are Israeli settlements.
They also said President Mubarak will reiterate to Netanyahu Egypt’s rejection of settlement building in the occupied territories and will request that the Israeli government freeze such activity, which the Palestinian Authority has made as a condition for resuming direct talks.
The sources also said they would discuss the espionage case by the Egyptian authorities. In addition to Israeli nationals, the case involves an Egyptian named Tarek Abdel Razek who was arrested by Egyptian police.
