Deposed Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who is currently in Sharm el-Sheikh, is suffering from physical health problems and psychological distress after he was forced to step down under pressure from continuing protests, said informed sources.
The sources said that Mubarak, who has undergone several surgeries over the past few years, is refusing to take medication or be examined by physicians.
Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq affirmed on Sunday that Mubarak is still in Sharm el-Sheikh.
The same sources said that Mubarak is receiving treatment at his residence in the resort town, adding that it has not yet been decided whether he should be transported to a hospital, either in Egypt or abroad.
Mubarak, 82, underwent surgery in March to remove an inflamed gallbladder and benign tumor in his duodenum. The surgery was carried out at the Heidelberg clinic in Germany.
Egyptian news reports said that Mubarak had a fight with his wife Suzanne and son Gamal over how to manage the political crisis which eventually led to his ouster on 11 February.
Sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that Mubarak and Gamal had an angry argument in which Mubarak told his son, "You got me into this, you and your mother. You have ruined my history in Egypt."
