Egyptian MP Ehab Mansour, the head of the parliamentary bloc of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party, submitted a parliamentary question regarding the fire that broke out at the Al-Ahram Studio and spread to neighboring buildings in Giza governorate.
Mansour said that he and all the governorate’s leadership and the civil defense and security forces were present at the scene of the accident, in an attempt to control the fire that lasted multiple hours despite their best efforts.
The fire was brought under control on Saturday morning and extinguished without any loss of life.
The Minister of Culture came to the site of the accident to follow the situation, Mansour noted, with the MP asking about the ministry’s responsibility over the fire.
He demanded that the citizens whose homes burned be compensated for the damage, and that they be receive new apartments.
The fire broke out in more than seven buildings, leaving devastating effects on the residences there.
He further demanded that the cause of the accident be disclosed alongside those responsible for it.
The MP also asked as to whether the studio was implementing civil protection requirements and all safety-related measures.
