The ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) will soon issue a statement about a council proposed to aid the government in meeting popular demands, presidential hopeful Amr Moussa said Wednesday.
The council will assist Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri, who is assigned with forming a national salvation government. SCAF head Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi decided to from the committee after meeting with 50 military, political and activist group representatives.
State-run newspaper Al-Ahram quoted Moussa on its website as saying that the announcement will lay out the council’s duties and how long it will serve in its role. The council will include politicians, presidential hopefuls, party leaders, public figures and youth members, Moussa said, adding that it will be given some decision-making power.
Moussa was among several potential presidential candidates who met with Tantawi Wednesday for the second time this week.
