Egyptian presidential hopeful Amr Moussa recently met with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on two separate occasions in Beirut, Lebanon to discuss the latest developments in the Arab world.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Moussa’s office in Cairo, the meetings came on the sidelines of Moussa’s participation in a conference entitled "Reform and the Transition to Democracy," which was organized by the UN in Beirut.
Moussa also met with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia Rima Khalaf, and a number of top Lebanese officials and international figures involved in the conference. Moussa said that during the conference, he talked about how to move along the path of democracy, development and social justice in the Arab world.
Moussa added that his meeting with Suleiman was an opportunity to exchange views on the situation and developments taking place in many Arab countries, including Egypt. Moussa is expected to deliver a speech this evening at the conference to discuss the Arab Spring, means of achieving social justice and how to benefit from the experience of other regions.
