Russia on Monday made its first public announcement about the Muslim Brotherhood after a Russian official said Moscow is ready is to build constructive relations with Egypt’s strongest political movement.
“We hope that the parties that are coming to power and that have come out of Muslim Brotherhood will act maturely. We are ready to build constructive relations with them,” Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov was quoted as saying by the Russian Itar-Tass news agency.
In 2003, the Russian Supreme Court decided to consider the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group and banned its activities in Russia.
