Morsy supporters plan to demonstrate in subways on Sunday

The subway company warned of protests called by supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsy inside subway stations from 9 am until 11 am on Sunday. The supporters also announced a sit-in inside trains to paralyze movement.

“Subway staff do not have arrest powers,” said Deputy Chairman Mohamed Badawy. “But the traffic police will be present in all stations.”

He said that holders of tickets can use them only once and that they cannot sit on the trains or in the stations all day. “We will operate additional trains if it gets crowded,” he said.

“No force would be used against protesters,” he said. “They said they would only sit quietly.”
