Dozens of the supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsy marched from Mostafa Mahmoud and Lebanon squares in Mohandseen district of Giza, to both the Supreme Constitutional Court in Maadi and the High Court downtown, on the day of the first session of Morsy’s trial.
The marches demanded to halt to the trial, describing it as a “violation against legitimately” and a “farce.”
Police and army forces massively stepped up security in Mohandseen on the sides of the streets where the marches took place, which disrupted traffic.
Pro-Morsy protestors chanted slogans calling the ousted president to stand strong in his crisis.
Verbal altercations erupted between the pro-army residents and the supporters of Morsy, after residents held the photos of Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi from their windows and some began throwing empty bottles down onto the protesters of the pro-Morsy march.
