President Mohamed Morsy has announced that the Egyptian national youth team players will receive rewards for winning the Africa Cup of Nations held in Algeria.
During a meeting with the players on Sunday, Morsy said, “I expect you to win the World Cup and I promise I will double the reward ten times, if you do.”
“Some of the team members expressed during our meeting their desire to rebuild Egypt. This is the spirit required for constructing Egypt during the coming period,” he added.
“I would like to congratulate Egypt, the Ministry of Sport and everyone involved in the sports field. We will work on honoring winners,” Morsy said.
Egypt national under-20 football team was crowned as African Youth Champions after beating the Ghanian team 5/4 on penalties. The game finished 1-1 in the original time and the same in extra time on Saturday.
The title is the fourth for Egypt in the history of participation in the championship, compared to three titles for Ghana. The Nigerian team still has the highest number of titles, having won the championship six times. Morocco, Algerian, Cameroon, Congo and Angola each earner the title once.
