Morsy meets with Egyptian community in Addis Ababa

President Mohamed Morsy met on Monday with the Egyptian community in Ethiopia, on the sidelines of the African Union summit.

Morsy called on everyone to look forward to achieve Egypt’s goals for progress, which he said would lead to progress of the whole Middle East.

He also expressed hopes of stability in Egypt, especially political stability, so the country can regain its role in the region.

“All of us love Egypt and wish all the good for it, but there are different point of views on methods to achieve the good,” he added, stressing that differences in points of view should not hamper work or decision making.

He said the country should move on after its difficult past.

“In the past, Egypt’s resources were wasted. Several chances were lost. However, we shouldn’t be captives of the past,” he said, adding that the country still has the strength and resources to make progress.

Morsy also met with the presidents of Somalia and Rwanda, as well as the patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church.

He first met with Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. They discussed relations between the two countries, and ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation between them.

Morsy then met with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, with whom he reviewed various issues about cooperation between the two countries, particularly trade and economic relations, and ways to enhance them. They also discussed regional and international issues.

At the Egyptian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Morsy met with Ethiopian Orthodox Church Patriarch Abune Paulos to discuss ways to strengthen their relations.
