President Mohamed Morsy received Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Gouda at the presidential office on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Gouda delivered a message from Jordan’s King Abdullah about developments in the region and methods of boosting bilateral cooperation ties.
Gouda met with his Egyptian counterpart earlier on Wednesday to discuss how to transfer humanitarian aid from Egypt to Syrian refugees in Jordan.
In a statement after the ministers' meeting, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Amr Roshdy said they agreed that Jordan will inform Egypt of the urgent needs of the Syrian refugees in Jordan. There are between 70,000 and 80,000 refugees officially registered in the country.
Roshdy praised the Jordanian initiative of receiving tens of thousands of refugees, and said urgent action was needed.
He said that two days ago, in the Qatari capital of Doha during the Arab ministerial meeting, Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr said Egypt was intending to offer aid to the Syrians.
