Shortages in the supply of diesel fuel and butane gas cylinders on Thursday led to more clashes among citizens, with many injuries resulting.
Four people were wounded in Assiut in a fight over cylinders, while others engaged in a fight with knives and guns over limited quantities of diesel at a gas station. In Daqahlia, the owner of a gas station shot at people trying to storm it in order to take diesel fuel.
In Alexandria, owners of cylinder distribution outlets accused the officials of manipulating the supply in favor of certain outlets.
For its part, the Petroleum Ministry said it would raise gas imports to half a million tons in order to meet local demand.
