he total number of Egyptians evacuated from Libya by air is 9,547 as of Saturday morning, returning home in 37 flights.
Evacuation began last month, after Egypt launched airstrikes on militant targets in Libya.
The Egyptian air force operation was in response to the beheading of 21 men at the hands of militants, 20 of whom were Egyptian, in a video released on February 15.
Egypt has since been evacuating Egyptians through an airlift. The first flight carrying Egyptians through the airlift landed on February 21, taking off from the Tunisian Djerba.
Most Egyptians returning home by air, cross into Tunisia first. However, last week some Egyptians were flown home from an Algerian airport after having crossed Algeria's al-Debdeb border crossing, which it shares with Libya.
The majority of evacuees have, however, fled the restive neighbour by directly returning to Egypt through the Salloum border crossing on the Libyan-Egyptians borders.
As of February 27, more than 21,000 had returned home this way, the Foreign Ministry said.
The unprecedented violence in the troubled neighbour has affected Egyptian nationals residing there since late 2013, with many Egyptians becoming the targets of attacks in Libya.
Egyptian authorities issued a ban on any travel to Libya in January.
This ongoing evacuation of Egyptians from Libya is the second in less than a year. Egypt's Aviation Ministry created an emergency airlift with Tunisia last July to transport Egyptians stranded on the Libyan borders with Tunisia back home.
