Army and police forces have deployed more than 400,000 troops to secure upcoming parliamentary elections, which kick off on October 18 and end on December 2.
Egyptians living abroad in 139 countries will begin voting in the elections on October 17.
Security efforts are being coordinated between the ministries of defense and interior.
The Interior Ministry has beefed up security at the country’s vital entrances, police stations and prisons, raising the security alert to its highest degree.
