Monday marks longest day in Ramadan

This Monday will be the longest day in the holy month of Ramadan in terms of the hours of fasting, as well as being the first day of the religious holiday, said Hatem Ouda, head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt on Sunday.

State-run news agency MENA quoted Ouda as saying that fasting hours on Monday would total 15 hours and 14 minutes, and would gradually decrease over the month, reaching 14 hours and 21 minutes on the last day of Ramadan.

Ouda added that Ramadan this year would last 30 days.
