Egypt's Interior Ministry has called for the 18th-round of the premier league to be postponed indefinitely, according to Tharwat Sweilam, executive director of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).
In remarks cited by the EFA's official website, Sweilam claimed it would be "impossible" for the EFA to resume the league given current political circumstances.
The EFA is expected to call off the remainder of this season.
The association had earlier said if the Interior Ministry refused to police championship matches, the league would be cancelled.
