The captain of the Egyptian national football team, Mohamed Salah has suffered a strain in the posterior muscle, forcing him to miss the national team’s two matches in the African Cup of Nations against Cape Verde, and then the round of 16 match in the event of qualification to the knockout stage.
Salah reported some pain in his back muscle at the end of the first half of the national team’s match against Ghana, on Thursday evening.
The national team’s coach, Rui Vitoria commented on Salah’s injury after the match, saying: “Mohamed Salah is a great and wonderful player, and his presence is an asset to the team, and he feels pain behind his exit from the match.”
Liverpool FC coach Jürgen Klopp also said during a press conference: “In fact, we do not have any information yet. I spoke with Mo yesterday, and he told me that he felt some pain.”
The Egyptian national team is preparing to face Cape Verde on Monday at 10 pm Cairo time, in the third and final round of the group stage of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
