Mohamed al-Meniawy, a Paralympic weightlifter, has clinched the gold medal and first place in the 59 kg weight category at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
Al-Meniawy’s victory marks Egypt’s first medal in the competition and his own debut at the Paralympic Games. He outperformed his rivals from China, Estonia, El Salvador, and Iran by successfully lifting weights of 194, 198, and 201 kg.
The Egyptian government delegation was present to witness al-Meniawy’s triumph at the Paralympic Games in Paris.
The delegation included Amr El-Haddad, Assistant Minister, Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, Director General of the Central Administration of Specialized Federations, the wife of Ambassador Alaa Youssef, the Egyptian Ambassador to France,and Hisham Ezzat, First Secretary of the Embassy.
