Mobile syndicate urges phone dealers to comply with regulations

The Communications and Mobile Syndicate has urged mobile phone companies operating in the local market to submit the necessary documentation relating to all mobile phone imports and sales, or risk fines and closures.

Mohamed al-Mahdy, the syndicate’s chief executive, said that mobile phone companies are required to submit the bills for all mobile phones sold, along with serial numbers, as well as customs clearance documentation relating to imports.

He said that mobile phone sales outlets and traders must comply with the syndicate's orders and government regulations or risk having their businesses closed down.

He that municipalities and police have started a crackown on phone sales outlets, inspecting licenses and advertisements.

Labour and insurance offices are also inspecting businesses to see whether their workers have the correct documentation and contracts of employment.
