Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology revealed a decrease in the number of mobile phone service subscribers from January to March 2022, reaching 94.1 million subscribers, compared to about 99.8 million during the same period last year – a decrease of about 5.6 percent.
The data showed that the number of mobile phone service subscribers per 100 residents amounted to about 90.40 percent during January to March 2022, compared to about 97.5 percent last year.
According to recent data, the number of landline subscribers reached about 11.17 million, compared to about 10.05 million during the same period last year, an increase of about 11.24 percent.
The report said that the number of landline subscribers per 100 population amounted to 10.73 percent, compared to about 7.45 percent during the same period of last year.
The number of mobile Internet users reached about 64.5 million subscribers in the period between January to March 2022, compared to about 57.2 million during the same period last year.
USB modem subscribers reached about 2.19 million subscribers, compared to about 3.26 million last year, a decline of 32.7 percent.
The report indicated that the number of ADSL high-speed Internet subscribers increased to 10.34 million during the same period, compared to about 9.26 subscribers, an increase of 11.6 percent.
The mobile phone penetration rate reached about 90.40 percent at the end of the period between January and March, while the landline penetration rate was about 10.73 percent, and the number of fixed phone lines reached about 11.17 million lines in the period between January and March.
