Mo Salah vs. Omar Marmoush: Egyptian stars clash in Liverpool-Manchester City showdown on Sunday

Football fans eagerly anticipate the kickoff of the Liverpool vs. Manchester City match in the English Premier League, which will feature an all-Egyptian showdown between Mohamed Salah, the “Reds” star, and Omar Marmoush, the “Citizens” star.

Salah and Marmoush will face off next Sunday in the Manchester City vs. Liverpool match, which is considered one of the most prominent dual encounters in the recent English Premier League, despite Pep Guardiola’s team entering it in a very critical situation after their elimination from the Champions League following a 6-3 aggregate loss to Real Madrid.

The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” highlighted the highly anticipated confrontation, stating that Salah and Marmoush are ambassadors of Egyptian football in the English Premier League. Salah has been dubbed the “Egyptian King” since becoming an idol of Liverpool fans.

Salah and Marmoush share similar roles on the field

Salah and Marmoush share similar roles on the field, with the latter playing in attacking positions, both on the wings and inside the box. The “Reds” star excels at playing on the right wing primarily, with the ability to play in other positions. This season, he has scored 29 goals and contributed 20 assists in all competitions.

Marmoush plays as a central striker and has shone this season with German clubs Eintracht Frankfurt and Manchester City, managing to score a hat-trick against Newcastle. His total contributions this season include 23 goals and 14 assists.

The Egyptian duo, Salah and Marmoush, are well acquainted with each other, having played together in 26 matches for the Egyptian national team, sharing good and bad moments. They were both present in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations final, which the Pharaohs lost on penalties to Senegal.

The two will meet again next Sunday, but this time they will compete against each other as their teams face off in the 26th round of the English Premier League.

In an earlier interview, the Egyptian Pharaoh told the “Liverpool Echo” newspaper last November that Marmoush is “a very important player for the national team and the team he plays for, and he has immense potential, but do not put him under pressure by comparing him to me.”
