Striker for the Egyptian National Team and Liverpool club Mohammed Salah performed on Monday the Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca before joining the Liverpool summer training camp in France.
Salah was seen wearing the white ihram (sacred) garments in Mecca.
Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp released the names of the players on the Reds’ final roster for the 2019/2020 season ahead of the friendly match on August 7 against the French team Lyon and the final match of the 2019 FA Community Shield against Manchester City on August 4.
The official Liverpool website said that Salah and the two Brazilian players Alisson Becker and Roberto Firmino were on the final list.
Salah was absent from Liverpool’s pre-season training camp after he took a holiday following participation in the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) from June 21-July 19.
Salah expressed deep sorrow that the Egyptian national team left the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 during the round of 16 after losing in the knockout stage against South Africa 0 – 1.
The Reds are planning to extend Salah’s contract until 2024 with a salary of £430,000 weekly and £22.4 million yearly. The UK newspaper The Sun noted that Salah previously signed a contract valid until 2023, and the Reds intend to keep the star for one more year.
