An Egyptian court postponed Thursday the trial of 22 suspects arrested during clashes that erupted Monday outside ousted President Hosni Mubarak's trial at the Police Academy in Cairo.
Judicial sources told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the New Cairo Misdemeanor Court postponed the trial to 15 September to give it more time to review all the documents.
The prosecution accused the suspects of causing damages outside the academy and injuring 17 people, 15 of whom were policemen.
Suspects’ supporters rallied at the misdemeanor court and, after the postponement was announced, said they would go to the Police Academy where Mubarak's trial is in its fifth session.
The 83-year-old former president, former Interior Minister Habib al-Adly and six of his assistants, stand trial on charges of killing protesters during the 18-day uprising.
Mubarak also faces charges of abusing powers and squandering public money along with his two sons Alaa and Gamal Mubarak.
