The Ministry of Electricity said Thursday that electricity cuts it induces to ration consumption dropped by 50 percent, thanks to a decline in the amount of megawatts it needs to conserve, from 2300 MW to 1050 MW.
The ministry renewed its call for citizens to ration their consumption.
Egypt has seen chronic periods of wide-scale electricity outages over the past two years as the government sought to ration consumption to offset a shortage in the fuel needed to operate power stations.
