Ministry: Egypt’s budget deficit rises to 10.8% of GDP in 11 months

Egypt's budget deficit over a period of 11 months and ending in May rose to 10.8 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), compared with 9.5 percent for the same period previous year, the Finance Ministry said on Thursday.
 
The deficit since the start of the fiscal year in July until the end of May reached LE261.8 billion (US$34 billion), from LE189.4 billion for the comparative period, the ministry said in a report on its website.
 
Total revenues reached LE350 billion from July-May 2014/2015, compared to LE337.8 billion in the same period the previous year.
 
Meanwhile, total expenditures reached LE601.4 billion, compared to 519.7 billion in the same period previous year.
