Ministry campaign finds fuel sale violations in Giza, Qalyubiya

A Supply and Internal Trade Ministry inspection team has found that two gas stations in Qalyubiya and Giza had sold thousands of liters of fuel on the black market.

The team found that a Qalyubiya gas station sold 800,000 liters of diesel on the black market over the past six months, and that a gas station in Giza, Misr Petroleum, had sold 20,000 liters of gasoline and 23,000 liters of diesel on the black market over the past month. The team filed reports for both cases.

The team had conducted the first inspections in Qalyubiya and Giza as part of a campaign to regulate the fuel market. The ministry’s monitoring and distribution sector prepared a report on the team’s findings.

Fuel shortages have plagued the country for months, with officials usually blaming black market fuel sales.
