Hala Youssef, population minister, has said that the average of rate of reproduction per family dropped from six to three children, thanks to efforts made by the ministry.
In an interview with a talk show aired on the privately-owned TV channel Al-Qahera wal Nas on Saturday, Youssef said, “The ministry works on reducing the population growth rate through the national strategy of population that includes the geographic redistribution of citizens.”
She added that the ministry has been tasked with social development in light of the absence of a social community.
Youssef was appointed minister in a cabinet reshuffle ordered by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in March. The ministry has been newly formed.
