Minister: Egypt set to continue Sudan development efforts

Egypt is willing to continue development projects it had started in the eastern region of Sudan, announced the Egyptian government. It has allocated US$1 million to finance medical and educational projects there.

Egyptian Economic Development Minister Othman Mohamed Othman said at a recent conference in Kuwait that Egypt is willing to carry out irrigation projects in Eastern Sudan that are worth US$12 million, in addition to other projects aimed at combating infant mortality, malaria, and other diseases.

“We must mobilize international assistance to help Sudan,” said the minister at the conference.

The conference discussed 149 development project proposals worth US$2.2 billion in total.
