Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour on Saturday said Egypt’s scientific research centers and bodies have achieved remarkable progress in the international publication, in light of the latest report published by SCImago Journal Rank for the year 2022.
Egypt has been ranked 24th globally among 233 countries, with 44,219 international researches and ranked 388th according to H-index, Minister Ashour said in a statement.
The number of scientific citations has recorded 42,493, minister Ashour said, pointing out to the advancement achieved by Egypt compared by the year 2021, when it was ranked 26th as regards published scientific documents.
Egypt has accounted for 1.13 percent of the international published documents, the minister noted.
For the third consecutive time, since the year 2020, Egypt has been ranked the first in Africa surpassing 58 African countries, followed by South Africa which has been ranked the 2nd and Nigeria in the 3rd place, Ashour said.
He added that Egypt’s scientific publishing represents 27 percent of the total published documents in Africa.
