Minister: “Clean Cairo” bike marathon contributes to maintaining environment, standing against climate change

The Environment Ministry participated in a cycling marathon under the rubric “clean and green Cairo with cycling” organized by Cairo governorate, Sanofi Egypt, specialized in the field of pharmaceuticals and the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy with the participation of Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal and a delegation of high-level officials in addition to a team of (Go Bike) initiative and a number of other youth initiatives.

Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad lauded the event which contributes to maintaining the environment and standing against the impact of climate change via using bicycles as alternative to cars and other means of transport that pollutes the environment in short distances.

The Ministry of Environment seeks to encourage using the bikes as alternative to traditional fuel-consuming transport means, she said, adding that it implemented a number of bicycles tracks to encourage using them as tools for facing air pollution and climate change via decreasing the use of cars and rationalizing energy consumption.
