Transitional Justice Minister and secretary of legislative reform committee Ibrahim al-Heneidy have expressed the sovereign authorities' refusal to return ownership to Nubians once they return to their original lands.
“Nubians earlier submitted a new draft law that is different from the one drafted by the Nubia development committee. It needed to be reviewed by sovereign authorities. [The Nubians] insisted on owning the lands, which the authorities refused,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, Ahmed Abdel Hamid, member of the committee following Nubian issues, said Nubians insist on the return back to the presidential decision allowing ownership, adding that the usufruct is totally rejected.
Meanwhile, in remarks on Sunday, Heneidy stressed that the committee did not receive any amendments on the protest law. “The law was mulled as per request of the National Council for Human Rights long time ago. Submission of all views on it is up to the Cabinet.”
“The committee tasked with responding to demands of the human rights universal periodic review meeting, which was recently held in Geneva, refused all issues that do not conform to Islamic Sharia as well as the government’s basic principles like demands of canceling execution penalty, equality between men and women in heritage for violating Islamic Sharia,” he said.
