Egypt has managed to retrieve eight pieces of antiquities from the United States in collaboration with concerned authorities there, including ancient Egyptian coffins, Antiquities Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said on Wednesday.
Ibrahim, who is on a visit to the United States, said the pieces are scheduled to return from New York back home within a month, noting that a big celebration would be held for the event.
Egypt is persistent in restoring all its antiquities across the world, either based on the law or mutual agreements, Ibrahim stressed, lauding efforts by Egyptian embassies abroad, most notably the embassy in Washington which had managed to prompt online auction giant, eBay, to halt a bid for 200 stolen Egyptian pieces.
He noted that Egypt was also about to return other antiquities from Israel, while efforts are underway on similar cases with Belgium and Germany.
