A marine lieutenant died when two amphibious armored vehicles sank in the eastern side of the Suez Canal during training. Ten other crew members survived.
There is a military unit is stationed on the eastern side specifically to secure the waterway of the canal.
This is the second time this week that Egyptian soldiers have been killed in vehicular accidents. Twenty-one Central Security Forces recruits were killed in Sinai on Monday when their driver lost control of the vehicle and it overturned on a slope.
