The armed forces have announced their success in thwarting an attempt to smuggle weapons from Libya 150 km south of Saloum on Egypt's western border.
The Egyptian military chased and stopped a four-wheel-drive vehicle carrying the weapons and arrested the driver and his companion.
Searching the vehicle, they found eight shotguns, 250 magazines and more than 30,000 bullets.
