
Military Spokesperson Mohamed Samir said raids against terrorists in North Sinai and Daqahliya left two alleged terrorists killed in a shootout between with security troops. Another 13 suspects were arrested in Sheikh Zuwaid, Rafah, Abu Sultan and Mansoura.
In a statement on Tuesday, Samir said a truck and 12 motorbikes without license plates intended for use by terrorists were also destroyed.
Meanwhile, in Daqahliya, two alleged terrorists were arrested, one of whom is accused of being a member of al-Qaeda. The other suspect allegedly belongs to Ansar Bayt Al-Maqdis and is wanted for several terrorist attacks in Ismailia, Cairo and North Sinai.
Egypt's military has been carrying out raids in Sinai, where there is a growing presence of armed groups that adopted bloody attacks against the military and police since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsy in 2013.
