Military police will protect and secure the country’s medical facilities in a nationwide initiative said Minister of Health Ashraf Hatem.
In a statement on Thursday, Hatem said the Health and Interior ministries and the armed forces agreed, after extensive discussions, that medical facilities need protection, particularly hospital receptions and emergency rooms. He said attacks by thugs and criminals during the revolution hindered their ability to provide care.
The statement went on to say that military police took initiative by requesting a list of all medical facilities in need of security. Hatem said the military police will coordinate with police and the medical facilities, which will provide everything needed to help the military units carry out their role in the most effective manner possible.
