Military to help secure thanaweya amma exams

The Defense Ministry would assist in securing the thanaweya amma (final exams) for high school students this year, including securing the transportation of exams to various education departments and providing security for schools, said on Monday Education Ministry spokesperson Mohamed al-Sorougy.

“The Armed Forces agreed to transport the exam papers on military jets, particularly to areas in Upper Egypt — including Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Luxor and Aswan — as well as border governorates, like Halayeb, Shalateen, Marsa Matrouh, Red Sea, North Sinai and South Sinai,” Sorougy said.

The military police and police forces would collaborate to secure the transport of the exam papers over land, whether on highways or trains, he added.

The military has submitted a security plan to each governorate, and the next step is too cordinate between the municipalities and security departments, Sorougy continued.

The central security department will train personnel to guard schools across the governorates during the exams. There would also be training sessions conducted over video conference to instruct personnel on how to handle various emergency situations.

The Interior Ministry would secure 1,430 schools with 5,720 security personnel, Sorougy claimed. The Educiation Ministry would supply 7,150 security personnel.
