A military court in Zagazig, Sharqiya, sentenced 13 Muslim Brotherhood loyalists on Thursday to between 5 and 15 years in prison for sabotaging public electricity facilities.
The court found them guilty of possessing explosives and burning electricity transformers owned by Egypt Telecom and the national electricity network.
Electricity converters have been subjected to recurrent explosions which authorities have blamed on the outlawed Brotherhood since the latter’s government was overthrown in 2013.
