The Supreme Council of the Egyptian Armed Forces (SCAF) has no intention of extending the transitional period in Egypt, said military council member Major General Tariq al-Mahdi on Wednesday.
Mahdi, who is a SCAF representative on the Radio and Television Union’s Board of Trustees, made the comment at a press conference held at the state television building on Wednesday.
The SCAF assumed responsibility for governing the country following the resignation of ousted President Hosni Mubarak in February, and vowed to ensure the transfer of power to a civilian government elected by the people.
