Microbus drivers block Giza road after killing of colleague

Security forces on Monday dispersed crowds of drivers who had blocked a major street in Giza after the killing of a microbus driver.

The drivers blocked Arab League Street in the Mohandiseen neighborhood of Giza, as the believed police had helped the killer flee. Allegedly, a fight had broken out between the driver of a private car and a microbus driver.

The argument developed into a fistfight, after which the private car driver shot the other man. The victim was transported to hospital, where he died.

The victim’s family and fellow drivers blocked the road running in both directions with metal barricades. Security forces managed to persuade them to leave after they told them the killer had been detained.

The Giza Security Directorate seized the private car driver's weapon and issued a report on the incident.
