Metro ticket prices will be raised after the inauguration of new stations on the third metro line, the Ministry of Transport announced.
The ministry issued a press statement on Tuesday, clarifying statements by Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir about raising the price of metro tickets published on several news websites.
The ministry said in its statement that the price of a metro ticket covering more than 25 metro stations is currently LE10.
The statement explained that the price of this ticket specifically will be raised to LE12 only after the inauguration of new stations on the third metro line, and not right now.
The ministry also stated that any increase will be ratified first by the cabinet and will be announced to the public once it is approved.
