The Egyptian Meteorological Authority warned of a unstable weather in the southern and eastern regions of Egypt, starting from Friday, August 5, until Wednesday, August 10.
The peak of weather instability is expected on Friday.
Rain of varying intensity, which may be heavy and reach thunderstorms, is expected in the south of the country in the areas Halayeb and Shalateen and Saint Catherines.
Active wind is predicted over Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the south of the country, and South Sinai.
Meteorologists expected high humidity during daylight hours, which increases the sense of hot temperature by values up to 4C.
Manar Ghanem, a member of the Meteorological Authority’s media office, said, during exclusive statements to Al-Masry Al-Youm, heavy and thunderstorms may fall in Egypt, as torrential rains at the sources of the Nile in Ethiopia and Sudan are also expected because of the rise of the tropical rain belt.
Ghanem said that the tropical belt affects the southern border areas in Egypt, which leads to the exposure of a number of areas in Egypt like Halayeb, Shalateen, the Red Sea mountain ranges, and some areas of Luxor and Aswan, to rain on Saturday, August 6.
She explained that August is one of the hottest months of summer, in which humidity levels rise, which increases our sense of high temperatures above normal summer rates.
Meteorologists expected hot, humid weather during the day to prevail in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt and the northern coasts, very hot and humid in South Sinai and the south of the country, moderate and humid weather on the northern coasts, and hot humid weather in the rest of the parts.
Fog will form during the early hours of the morning until 6 am, on agricultural and highway roads close to water channels, reducing vision on roads.
On Friday and Saturday, fog is expected on some roads leading to and from Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northern coasts, the Suez Canal cities, central Sinai and northern Upper Egypt.
On Friday, there are chances of light rain falling on Halayeb, Shalateen, and areas of South Sinai, which may be accompanied by intermittently raised dust and sand. Winds will be active at times on areas of Lower Egypt, the eastern coasts, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt.
On Saturday, there are opportunities for light rain to fall on areas of the southern Red Sea Governorate, the southernmost part of Upper Egypt and South Sinai, at intermittent periods.
On Sunday, active wind is predicted at times in areas of Greater Cairo, the northern coasts, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. There are chances of light rain falling on areas of the southern Red Sea Governorate and the southernmost part of Upper Egypt at intermittent periods.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, active wind is expected occasionally on areas of Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo, the northern coasts, South Sinai, and the south of the country.
Chances of light rain are predicted in areas of the southern Red Sea Governorate at intermittent periods.
