Merchants at Cairo’s Friday market, which was set ablaze on Tuesday after a car fell from an overpass and exploded on top of it, threatened to block Cairo’s ring road if the government failed to compensate them for their losses.
Market merchants clashed with Cairo municipality officials after they were ordered to remove their merchandise from the scene. Some of them requested that the governor personally intervene to resolve the matter.
Meanwhile, the families of the three young men who died in the car accident identified the bodies of the deceased, while prosecutors issued the necessary permits for their burial.
More than ten eyewitnesses confirmed that the car had fallen from the overpass before exploding, setting the marketplace on fire.
