Mehleb to visit France May 12-14

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb will visit France on May 12 upon an invitation from French President Francois Hollande to sign several economic agreements, according to a source from the Cabinet.

Mehleb will be accompanied during his three-day visit by a ministerial delegation that includes trade, industry, investment and international cooperation ministers.

Both Mehleb and Hollande will hold bilateral talks to tackle political and economic cooperation, alongside joint sessions between Egyptian ministers and their French counterparts.

Several projects that France helps to fund will be discussed, the source said. France offered Egypt a 796-million-euro loan to support the Suez Canal Project and the third stage of the metro, as well as the Dabaa nuclear project. They will also discuss increasing the number of French investments in Egypt, especially in the fields of industry and service, given that France ranks number 12 in countries with the highest investments in Egypt.

Mehleb will also follow up on several agreements made during President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s previous visit to France, including the selling of French Rafale jets to Egypt.

The prime minister will meet with the heads of French companies investing in Egypt, in addition to following up on agreements signed with French companies on investments in Egypt during the economic summit held in March.
