The Supreme Administrative Court on Monday referred an appeal submitted by the Health Ministry, which challenged a court ruling rejecting the linking of local to global medicine prices, to State Council commissioners. The legality of the appeal is expected to be decided on 3 July.
The Judicial Administrative Court, which issued the initial ruling, defended its verdict, saying that it had taken the needs of Egyptian citizens into consideration as stipulated by the Egyptian Constitution.
The Health Ministry, in turn, had challenged the ruling on the basis that the national economy could be subject to harm if local medicine prices were not linked to global prices.
